Tropisms presents a close-knit family of abstract painting, made objects and a hybridity of both.
The exhibition borrows its title from modernist writer Nathalie Sarraute’s 1939 novel, and also utilises the concept of the terms definition; the biological movements of plants and organisms prompted by external stimuli. Under this umbrella,
the sculptural elements and painted image are held together in their own form of tropism, prying into the participation of human and non-human force.
